Relic Hunting Has Never Been So Leafy
Mage City Garamond
The Mage City of Garamond was found by mages fleeing persecution from the precursor to the Holy City Ahltanna. Garamond is ruled by the Arcane Council of Garamond whose members are composed of a skilled wizard of each school of magic. Though the council is elected by vote, only professors of the the city’s arcane academies can hold office and only wizards may vote. As a result, the Arcane Council plays a direct role in the education of the next generation. Once elected to the council, few are voted off – giving “tenure” a dual meaning in Garamond’s academic circles. The politics of the elected having direct professional influence over the voters often leads to cult like groupthink. Independently minded mages often leave Garamond on “sabbatical”. Expatriate Garamondians are seldom ostracized by their countrymen as most mages without any political power wish they could do the same if only there wasn’t so much to lose.Garamond has officially abandoned all ambitions of making peace with the natural world and has declared all druids enemies of the state. Most cities would be destroyed by the monstrous races for such utterances, but Garamond’s arcane defenses are tremendously powerful. Even the dragons do not dare attack its borders. The recent upheaval of Belmont has the city on high alert. Garamond has provided assistance to Belmont, but it is unclear whether the town is yet another pawn in their ongoing stalemate with nature.
